Could cookies be the secret to happiness -- and world peace? Leslie Kouba (2024)

CLEVELAND, Ohio – I need some dental work, but there isn’t a dentist or oral surgeon who can help me. No one is able to remove my sweet tooth. Very disappointing. This means will power is the only answer, and when it comes to sugar, will power is in short supply.

Actually, not all sugar is equal. Only a few kinds of candy beckon – black licorice, peanut butter cups and those crunchy Butterfinger bars that stick to the fillings in my real teeth. I can skip cake unless it’s that square kind in the grocery freezer covered in coconut, the only flavor Pepperidge Farm needs to make, IMHO. Pie is nice, but nothing compares to the power of cookies.
