GG Jackson’s reaction said it all. He opened his mouth wide, surprised as he found out the history he made on Thursday night.
On the day a Kobe Bryant statue rose outside of Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, down came one of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer's records in Memphis. Jackson’s 27 points in the Grizzlies' loss to the Chicago Bulls broke Bryant’s record for the youngest player in NBA history to score 25 or more points in a game coming off the bench.
Jackson achieved the feat at 19 years, 53 days of age. Bryant was 19 years, 78 days when he scored 25 points on Nov. 9, 1997.
“Shoutout to Kobe,” Jackson said. “Wow. I feel like this is going to be stamped in Grizzlies history for a long time to come. I’ve said this before, but it’s not me, it’s all glory to God.”
Jackson shot 9-for-18 from the field and made four 3-pointers against the Bulls. He scored at least five points in each quarter of a consistent night.
The Grizzlies drafted Jackson in the second round with the 45th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. He has scored at least 16 points three consecutive games. He averaged 10.6 points per game in January after his playing time ballooned due to a plethora of injuries on the roster.
Bryant still holds the record for the youngest to score 30 or more points. Jackson has the rest of this season to surpass Bryant’s 33-point mark.
“It’s not a secret. When you see him play, he’s going to be a great, great player," ,” teammate Santi Aldama said of Jackson. "He’s always asking questions and trying to be better. When you have a guy with that care factor on top of all the skill he has, he’s going to be special for sure.”

Chamberlain holds the single-game scoring record, having scored 100 points in a game in 1962. The youngest player to score at least 60 points in a regular season game is Devin Booker (70 points; 20 years and 145 days), and the oldest is Bryant (60 points; 37 years and 234 days).
Curry joined Kobe Bryant as the only players in NBA history age 35 or older to score 60 points in a game. He also surpassed Wilt Chamberlain for the most 50-point games by a player age 30 or older (8).
Nonetheless, this night was all about Kobe making history. Reaching a mark of 10,000 points at just 24 years of age is phenomenal, and something very few players are capable of. Even Kobe himself couldn't put it into words following the game.
Take a look back at LBJs career-high 61-point performance vs the Bobcats on March 3, 2014, with some sound over the years on him being in the zone that night.
Titus Makin Jr., who played Officer Jackson West on The Rookie, chose to leave the show. Makin Jr. wanted to address the real-world problems with policing, and his character's exit allowed for that.
The NBA points record in a game was achieved by Wilt Chamberlain who with the 100 points obtained in 1962 still remains unattainable, especially considering that Kobe Bryant is in second place with 19 points behind. An error occurred.
