Very good and fairly easy to make. I used Bragg Liquid Aminos in lieu of the oyster sauce.

Sid

This is delicious. The orange peel and the garlic and red pepper combo are so good. I didn't have any oyster sauce as we are vegetarians, so I put in about a tablespoon of Hosein sauce. Excellent. Thanks for this.

Anne

Everyone loved this broccoli made with my home harvested broccoli, picked that day. I used fish sauce instead of oyster sauce, because that is what I had on hand. I thought it seemed strong but with the lemon roast chicken it was just fine. I will make this again but with the oyster sauce next time. I thought of using sesame oil instead of olive oil. Has anyone tried that. I can see multiple variations to keep this recipe at the top of the frequently served list.

Use oyster sauce! I don't know what these folks are on about with equating fish sauce and oyster sauce--totally different textures, concentrations, and flavor balances.

I used grapefruit zest instead of orange, which complexified things nicely, and tossed in finely sliced green onion just after taking the skillet off the heat.

Richard

A couple of steps to get it done, but it came out nicely. We didn't have oranges, so we used a bit of orange juice. Watch the toasting of the sesame seeds carefully. Also, once cooked, don't cover for too long otherwise the broccoli gets soggy. I used about 2x the amount of water that was recommended.

Valentina

This was great! I made this last night and my hubby loved it. Next time I will steam the broccoli first and then fry the oil and garlic because the residue oil in the pan causes some of the broccoli and pan to burn when doing it the way it is suggested. Loved the orange flavour. Very easy to do during the work week. I also used squeezed orange juice over the broccoli.... fantastic!

Ruth

This was perfect exactly as written. The broccoli has the perfect texture being cooked with this method, and you use almost the entire broccoli, stem to stern. Wonderfully seasoned. Teenager demanded it be in regular rotation.

Lisa May

Delicious! I was out of oyster sauce and zest, so subbed 1T soy sauce and 1T orange juice. Served over linguini tossed with toasted sesame oil. A full meal. Yum!

Mindy

I really wanted this to be something special, but it really wasn’t.

Bonnie

Very tasty, easy, fast. Asian flavor. I think I skimped on orange zest -- more next time. I'd make it again!

Chelle

Pairs well with the NYT Korean BBQ Meatballs and rice. I didn’t have sesame seeds, and my husband hates oyster and fish sauces. Instead I substituted sesame oil for olive oil, and used soy sauce with a touch of rice wine vinegar and mirin. I used a little more than water than the recipe calls for on the broccoli, but the cook time was perfect. My picky eight year old claimed this had the weirdest ingredients ever, but was DELICIOUS. Definitely a winner!

I loved this. Easy to make....didn't follow order of things (unintentionally) but it still came out delicious. Also didn't use Liquid Aminos or Hoisin (I'm plant based) cuz of the salt content. But gave it a splash of low-sodium Tamari. Served with airbaled and marinated tofu slices and leftover polenta. Lovely

Scant 1/2 tsp salt too salty. Try 1/4Double the garlic

We will eat more broccoli thanks to this easy and delicious recipe.

I’m sure this great as is. But I made a more substantial entree by adding chicken thigh strips and flat rice noodles. Added juice from half the orange, minced jalapeño and garnished with peanuts and chili crisp. Delish!

Neil

Loved this. Substituted hoisin sauce for oyster sauce & that worked fine. Used 1/2 tsp red pepper & it had a nice kick.

Kim

I did this without the oyster sauce or the sesame seeds--absolutely fantastic! I loved the orange zest in there

FA

This is my new favorite broccoli recipe. I also didn't have oyster sauce and used hoisin sauce. Perfect dish.

One thing good about this recipe is that the orange zest gets rid of most of the broccoli stank that it gets after it is cooked. We all liked it - served it last T-Day with even my granddaughter finishing hers. Needed to do a few substitutions: slivered almonds instead of sesame & sesame oil at the end for ~1/2 the olive oil & that worked well. Vegetarians concerned about the oyster sauce can get the vegetarian kind which is often quite good, or make your own using shiitakes (recipes online).

made as directed. Served with baked tofu. It's all gone. Every last bite! the garlic took longer as did the sesame seeds. A great use of broccoli.

Excellent, fast and easy, orange peel added a nice zing.

Anthony

I used orange juice in place of the water and orange peel. The 4 minute recommendation for cooking the broccoli was spot on, prepping the broccoli as directed. Nicely cooked and very flavorful. Nice recipe to have in your back pocket when all you have is broccoli and standard pantry items.
