Well, that's an eventful second round of the PGA Championship in the books, and it's Will Zalatoris who leads heading into the weekend after his superb 65 on Friday.

Rory McIlroy couldn't hold onto his lead but battled away to stay in contention, while Justin Thomas defied the worst of the conditions to grab third after two rounds.

Tiger Woods fought hard to make the cut, and Bubba Watson shot a sparkling 63 to come out of nowhere to challenge.

With changing conditions and a tight leaderboard it should be an even more eventful Saturday, so join us for moving day at Southern Hills for live text commentary once again.

  2. Tiger hoping for a hot weekend

    Woods +3 (69)

Tiger Woods being Tiger Woods, he's not happy with just making the weekend, he wants to make a challenge for the title.

Woods felt better today than Thursday, and felt his putter was working well, but still needs to improve his iron play to challenge.

"Yesterday was not very good, I hit so many bad iron shots – today I had a better feel for it but still hit some bad shots," Woods told Sky Sports.

“If I can just get myself in putting range, I’m putting well but I just need to get myself there in enough time.

“I made some good par putts on the back nine and it was a good fight down that back nine.

“Hopefully I can have a hot weekend and do what Bubba did today and then we’ll see."

  3. 'I wish it was on Sunday to take the lead'

    Watson -5 (63)

Bubba Watson, after his superb 63: "My ball striking was good yesterday, but I hit my driver really nicely and didn't miss many fairways, so had a chance to score. Yesterday I struggled with my putting.

"I kept it in play and around here you have to keep it in play. I was nervous on the last with the course record, but I was happy to tap in to par - I really wanted to make that last one.

"It was nice but I wish it was on Sunday to take the lead, coming out of nowhere to win or take a top five - but I will take it on any day of the week."

  4. 'I am still in a good position'

    McIlroy -4 (71)

Here is Rory McIlroy: "I just tried to get back even for the day, made a nice birdie on 12 and then gave myself some chances coming in but couldn't quite capitalise.

"If I dropped a shot or two on the last three holes all of a sudden I'm looking at the leader on nine under - I kept myself within touching distance and that was a good thing.

"Overall a lot of guys went lower this afternoon and I wish I was one of them, but if that is the bad one out of the way I am still in a good position.

"It's reset... if someone said you would be fifth going into the weekend that would be a good position.

"We will see a completely different golf course, the wind is going to do a 180, so there is not going to be a lot of people who have seen the golf course in the wind we'll get tomorrow.

"That will be an extra challenge and will make it pretty interesting."

  5. Tiger shows fighting spirit

    Woods +3 (69)

As Tiger Woods hobbled off his final green on Thursday we did wonder whether we'd see him today, but despite the limp still being there he fought his way into the weekend superbly.

It wasn't vintage Woods by any means, but his course management, apart from a double bogey on 11, was excellent.

Woods played within himself, but what was working was the putter, and down the back nine he made enough putts to ensure he made the cut and will be around at the weekend.

  6. 'One of those days where I hit everything perfectly'

    Pereira -8 (64)

Mito Pereira has been talking to Sky Sports: "I've been playing solid golf on the Korn Ferry Tour so I'm happy with how things are going.

"Today is just one of those days where I hit everything perfectly and made some putts.

"I tried to keep as calm as possible and do my best. I'm happy to be in this position.

"Obviously I'll get nervous [on Saturday] but I've worked for that and I hope I'll keep doing it."

  7. Watson misses 63

    Watson -5 (63)

Here's Bubba Watson from the bottom of the hill on the 18th. He hits a high one, parachuting into the heart of the green and leaving him with a 25-footer for a piece of history.

He's hoping to join Branden Grace as the only men in the 62 club...

...the ball is on its way but it's never troubling the hole. Finishing a foot or so to the left. Still, it's a 63 and Bubba is right in this.

  8. 'No idea I was bogey-free'

    Zalatoris -9 (65)

A few words from our leader, talking to Sky Sports: "When I got out of position I made sure I missed in the right position.

"With how tough it was I had no idea I was bogey-free until I signed my scorecard, it made that 65 feel so much better.

"The weather is changing, with a different wind direction, so I'll see what the set-up is like and go out and do it again."

  9. Watson riding his luck

    B Watson -5 (17)

Bubba Watson carves his final drive of the day down the right-side of the 18th. A clump of rough stops his ball from careering into the stream that has devoured so many already today.

Cam Smith was in a similar position about 15 minutes ago and he played a magical shot, will Bubba be able to match that?

Thumbs up if you think Bubba will match the 62. Thumbs down if he's going to miss out.

  10. Spieth & Woods make the cut

    McIlroy -4 (71), Spieth +1 (69), Woods +3 (69)

Tidy finish for Tiger Woods and he signs for a 69 on day two, which is impressive when you consider how much he seemed to struggle on Thursday.

Woods battled to make the cut and he'll now play the weekend again in his second major back from that horror leg injury.

Spieth will be annoyed to bogey the last and finish over par for the tournament, but he can go out early tomorrow and try to make a score.

And it's a messy day for Rory McIlroy but he's battled away hard to limit the damage to just a one-over round of 71.

  11. Watson eyeing a 62

    B Watson -5 (17)

Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson is continuing his surge up the leaderboard.

The left-hander has knocked in eight birdies today and is standing over a two-foot tiddler on the 17th.

He started the day on two over par, so he's at seven under for the round.

One more birdie down the last and he'll match Branden Grace's major championship record of shooting a 62 in The Open of 2017 at the par-70 Royal Birkdale.

  12. Leader by one

    Zalatoris -9 (65)

Here's our leader... Will Zalatoris plays a solid final hole, tapping in for par and he's going to take a one-shot lead into Saturday's third round.

    It's a bogey-free 65 to follow Thursday's 66 - just two bogeys in his opening 36 holes.

  13. Post update

    -2 Smith (70)

Not much has gone right for Cam Smith on his back nine today. A couple of bogeys are all he has to show for his efforts.

The Players champion squirts his tee shot down the left of 18 and we all know by now that that is not the place to be, with a stream waiting to snaffle wayward balls.

He's lucky. His ball holds up in a collar of rough. And he takes advantage, smashing a high second over the trees and eight feet from the pin.

But then the birdie putt hops right and he has to settle for a par and a round of 70.

  14. Post update

    Woods +3 (17)

Tiger Woods isn't quite as nimble as he once was around the greens.

  15. Untidy finish for Hatton

    Hatton -2 (68)

Tyrrell Hatton hits a low chip and run, the ball checking a little as it gets up to the hole and stops three feet away.

    First part safely negotiated.

Second part... that seemed a little tentative from the Englishman as the ball misses on the low side.

He finishes the day two shots better off than he started.

  16. Post update

    McIlroy -4, Spieth E, Woods +3 (17)

Looks like Jordan Spieth has stuck his tee shot on the last into the creek down the right - that'll be such a gut punch after the birdie on 17.

  17. Post update

    McIlroy -4, Spieth +1, Woods +3 (16)

An arrow from Spieth into the 17th green sticks, holds, then dances backwards towards the hole and leaves him with a fine chance to get back to level par.

Work to do for Woods who is pin high but off the green, and even more work for McIlroy who tumbles off the back and down a big slope.

  18. Sole leader

    Zalatoris -9 (17)

Many questions have been asked about Will Zalatoris' quality with the flat stick. From what we've seen today, the boy can putt just fine.

Another one drops on the par-four 17th - it's his fifth of the round and he is yet to drop a shot. Sensational stuff from the Texan.

  19. Post update

    Hatton -3 (17)

Tyrrell Hatton is on the 18th, scudding a low one up the hill towards the green, trying to chase it on.

The ball catches a slope or two and hangs out to the right. There are a couple of bunkers over there but he manages to squeeze between them and stay on the grass.

He's a chip and a putt away from a decent round
