In 1968 he joined the US Department of Transportation in Washington, DC, serving until his retirement in early 1994 as Deputy Associate Administrator for Pipeline Safety.

BLOCK- 0., 87, died peacefully in Mt. Laurel, N.J., on March 8, 2005. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he graduated from Grover Cleveland High School and worked for 50 years as Manager of Retail Sales for the American Fabrics Company in N.Y.C. He served in the Army Air Corps as a Bombardier during World War Il. Mr.

Block was married for 60 years to Helene Buffler, who preceded him in death in 2001. Mr. Block was a trained vocalist who sang professionally for four decades in churches and choruses in the N.Y.C. area. He was a dedicated lay leader in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and was ordained a Lay Minister after his retirement in 1985.

She was a kindergarten teacher for several years in the Cold Spring Harbor School District on Long Island, worked in her husband's engineering consulting business, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Litchford had many artistic and literary interests, was an unpublished poet, and an animal lover. She was dearly loved and will be missed by many friends and family. Mrs.

Litchford is survived by her husband George B. Litchford, Sr. who lives at the Terrace at Glenn Eddy in Niskayuna; her son George B.
