Block was married for 60 years to Helene Buffler, who preceded him in death in 2001. Mr. Block was a trained vocalist who sang professionally for four decades in churches and choruses in the N.Y.C. area. He was a dedicated lay leader in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and was ordained a Lay Minister after his retirement in 1985.

She was a kindergarten teacher for several years in the Cold Spring Harbor School District on Long Island, worked in her husband's engineering consulting business, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Litchford had many artistic and literary interests, was an unpublished poet, and an animal lover. She was dearly loved and will be missed by many friends and family. Mrs.

born February 13, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY, passed away March 3, 2005 from congestive heart failure. Art was preceded in death by his parents James and Josephine, his wife Midge and his son Dennis. He leaves behind son and daughterin-law Tom and Kathy Mendoza, daughters and sons-in-law Nanci and Jack Alexander, Sue and Todd Thomas and six grandchildren, Shaun, Dana, Chris, Dan, Matt and Eric. Art is also survived by his wife Barbara, all of his adopted Florida family and his sister Margaret Hample of Lindenhurst, NY. Art served in the Navy during WWII where he was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross.
