Drugstore Owner B. Catalanello, Westbury--Anthony B. Catalanello 86, a pharmacist who opened the first drugstore in Merrick in the early 1920s, died at his home Thursday. Catalanello and his first wife, Rose, also a pharmacist, were married in 1918. In 1921, they opened a store in Rockville Centre, and the following year they moved to Merrick, where they operated the village's first pharmacy.

In 1924, the couple moved to Westbury and opened a store there. Born in Brooklyn, Catalanello attended Eastern District High School in Brooklyn and was graduated from the New Jersey College of Pharmacy. He was one of the founders of the Nassau Italian-American Republican Club. His first wife died in 1931 and Catalanello later married again. In addition to his second wife, Jennie, survivors include two daughters, Lillian Walla of Stanford, and Jeanette of Westbury; two sons, Bernard of Hampton Bays and Anthony also of Westbury; a sister, Josephine Rizzo of Forest Hills; 10 grandchildren, and one greatServices, 10 AM tomorrow, St.

He was an alternate U.S. delegate to the United Nations General Assembly in 1949, served on the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO from 1948 to 1951 and was a member of the Presiderit's Commission on Campus Unrest in 1970.

He served as board chairman of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 1960, president of the American Society of Newspaper Editors in 1948-49 and was a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. As a young man, he worked in the lumber camps, as a prospector and as a bartender. When war broke out in 1914, he enlisted after convincing recruiters that he was 33-years-old, instead of 44. He was attached to the 25th Nova Scotia Regiment and served in France until 1918. He vainly tried to re-enlist in 1939 by telling recruiters he was 40. Frances Price, 86, Poet Franklin, Ind.

(UPI)--Frances Price, 86, poet, educator, and lecturer died Friday at the United Methodist Home here. Mrs. Price began writing poetry in 1963 after retiring from a career in education. Two volumes of her work, "Blue Flame" and "Miracle Windows," were published. She was a frequent lecturer on poetry.
